Leicester City have plenty more in the locker as an attacking force, striker Martyn Waghorn believes.

City face Barnsley at the King Power Stadium on Saturday, looking to continue their dominant home form which as seen them score 12 goals in their last three home games.

David Nugent has scored five of them and Waghorn, who has also scored in consecutive home games against Ipswich Town and Derby County, said Nugent was someone he was trying to learn from.

"He is bang on form and it is great for the team," Waghorn said of Nugent.

"He has obviously missed a couple of games with his neck injury.

"But it is great to have him back, great to have him around the squad. It shows what he can do in 30 minutes.

"He has bundles of experience. He has played in the Premier League and for England, so I definitely feel I can learn off him."

Waghorn also hailed the service coming from French winger Anthony Knockaert, whose exciting unpredictable play has thrilled City fans and created a host of chances for the strikers.

"Anthony can do a lot of great things with the attacking flair that he has got," he said.

"Anthony is hard to read because he is so small and his legs are doing different things to what I am doing. He is a good player who can pick a pass out. You have to be ready for what he is going to do because he has a bit of magic in the final third.

"That bit of the unknown about him creates chances for others. He is nice to have around.

"We are just clicking at the moment. We don't particularly work on anything, it is just off the cuff.

"When you are playing games and enjoying your football you start to click and things start to come off. It happens when everything is going well."

“Waghorn is right to cite Nugent as a Forward's role model.

Waggy is however a different player who is more able to mix it up with the defenders and hold-up the ball for the midfielders to catch up, and can read the phases of play as can Vardy. Vardy is the space maker with pace to frighten the defenders and an eye for getting on the final ball into the box. NP will be delighted with the progress made by both and will not be in any rush to bring in another forward in January.

We have three forwards each with different qualities which supplement eachother. Waggy's goal from Vardy's visionary flick against Derby was sublime, and Nugent's control in that final second before striking the ball goalwards is awesome”

“Of course there is 3 points at stake lc but if we cannot see off the likes of them with the squad and the money we have spent they may as well bull doze the place down and build something else.”
