A landlord has picked up an award for giving a quarter of a century's service to his pub and his community.

Simon Clough, who runs the Rising Sun in Shackerstone, has been handed the award by Hinckley and Bosworth Campaign for Real Ale.

Simon's family bought the pub in 1987. Since then, the restaurant has been developed and a conservatory added.

Richard Lewin, of Camra, said the pub was now renowned for the quality of its food and real ales, and has raised many thousands of pounds for charity, including the purchase of nine Guide Dogs for the Blind.
