Two businesses have been named joint winners of the Leicestershire Law Society firm-of-the-year title.

Douglas Wemyss, of Leicester, and Edward, Hands & Lewis, of Loughborough, received the award at the society's 150th anniversary dinner on Friday.

Awards judge Sheree Peaple said: "There was nothing to separate them."

Solicitor of the year was Victoria Curran, of Weightmans, in Leicester, while William Tyler, of the Chambers of Frances Oldham QC was named barrister of the year. Joanne Harrison, of Weightmans, was the trainee of the year.
