A shake-up of top political posts has been announced at a council.

David Parsons, the leader of the Leicestershire County Council, has reshuffled his team.

Nicholas Rushton has resumed his former role as deputy leader of the Conservative-run local authority.

He took over from Byron Rhodes, who now has responsibility for issues including planning and property services.

Councillors Tony Kershaw, Ivan Ould, Lesley Pendleton, David Sprason and Mike Preston all retain their roles, with responsibility for waste management, children and young people, adults and communities and climate action respectively.

An addition is Joe Orson, who takes the safer communities brief.

Brian Page, who was in charge of finance, has left the cabinet.

Ernie White will now work under the direction of Coun Ould in the children and young people's service.
