Leaders Falcons prove too strong for lowly Trees

It was top versus bottom in the Automedia Printers Premier Division and leaders Loughborough Falcons knocked in four without reply against Birstall Trees, with goals from Ross Locker (2) and Mark Schulz (2).

Second-place Whitwick Compass won 3-0 at Long Whatton, Martin Fox, Gavin Hill and Ben Pollard scoring one each.

Shelthorpe Lions won by the odd goal in seven at Gaunt, Carl Adams, Abraham Conth and Tony Blankly the Gaunt scorers.

With Birstall Stamford Reserves on cup duty, Whitwick Village closed the gap on them in the Charnwood Protex Security Systems Division One to five points with a 6-1 home win against Heather St John's.

Will McNeice hit three, Simon Elton, Will Price and an own goal making up the six. Damon Lawrence was Heather's scorer.

Hathern Three Crowns also kept the pressure on the top two with a 7-2 home win against Charnwood Foresters, Stu Liddell (3), Brian Rogers, Steff Bowler, Michael Boose and Ian Liddell on target. Ryan Leavesley scored both for Foresters.

Goals from Sam Hill and Anthony Ward gave Groby Dynamo a 2-0 win at Shepshed United.

Gaunt Reserves moved out of the relegation zone with a 4-2 win at Burton FC. Ben Pellington grabbed three and Tim Findley one for Gaunt, Craig Hoskins and James Biddles for Burton.

Loughborough Rovers made it six wins from six matches in Trophy Parlour Division Two by beating Greenhill 6-1. There were two each for Danny O'Connor and Rich Cashmore and one each for Tom Wright and David Wassingcroft, Michael Pickering scored for Greenhill.

Ashby Rovers won 4-0 at Birstall Stamford A with two each for Alex Cast and Chris Seeley.

Mountsorrel Imps picked up their second win against Cossington Royal Oak, 3-0, Rowan Maxwell with two and Chris Pole one.

The top two in Division Three met and leaders Loughborough Saints Reserves inflicted a first defeat on second side Barton FC winning 4-1 with strikes from Roman Pemberton (2), Martin Roulston and Carl Blood.

Loughborough Celtics went nap at Twelve, winning 5-3 with goals from Carl Brookes (2), Darren Slater, Matt Fairgreave and an own goal. Gaz Wisher, Kev Howerd and Stu Brookes gotone each for Twelve.

There was lots of goals in the Breedon and Agar Nook Amateurs game. Breedon claimed seven and Agar Nook four.

A brace for John Dixon and one each for Stuart Bradley (his first goal for three seasons), John Sparks, Matt Byard, Sean O'Donnell and Gaz Smart registered for Breedon. Dean Wooley, Danny Hickson, Carl Edge and Dale Burton scored for the Amateurs.

Ashby Railway won 5-3 at Birstall Trees Reserves in Colin Ward's Butcher's Division Four.

United Aces had a more respectable score in their game with Walsh UK, only going down 7-2 instead of the 20-0 on their previous meeting.

There were two goals for Adey Sherwin and one each for Chris Leason, Alex Maxfield, Vinny Moore, Adey Lakin and Tony Hollier.

Denis Whitby and Nickolas Smith gave United Aces a 2-1 half-time lead.

In round two of the Thomas Estates Cup, Loughborough Saints and Quorn Royals had to go to extra time before the Royals won through 5-4.

Liam Fitzpatrick (3) and Ashley White (2) scored for Saints with Danny Chapman (2), Chris Baker and Martin Hamner replying.

Birstall Stamford Reserves, the WM Davis Cup holders, are through to the third Round after a 10-3 win at Epinal Rovers.

Pete Davey (5), David McAffrey (4) and Aaron Hedley were their scorers with Nathan Fallon, Matt Hilderly and Chris Belton getting one each for Epinal.

Sileby Athletic beat Shelthorpe Lions Reserves 5-0 in the S&L Trophues with goals from Liam Winnett, Andy Sanderson, Leo Cogan, Rob Wills and Louis Tolton.

In the County Sunday Premier Cup, Birstall Stamford won 2-1 at Scraptoft Garage with goals from Cameron Stewart and Michael McClaron.

And in the County Sunday Trophy, Three Nuns made the semi-finals by beating Sunbury United 6-3 with goals from Steve Shapcott (4), Richie Barker and Alan Barrett.
