Rearsby: Villagers are being given the chance to explore the history of the area with 10-week history course starting in September.

Weekly classes will take a look back at Leicestershire villages from medieval times, through the Victorian period, to the 20th century.

Run by the Workers' Education Association, the Rearsby course, to be held at the village hall in Melton Road, has been popular with locals for a number of years as organiser Jeannette Buswell explains. "For the 11 years I have been involved, the classes have done very well. We get people of all ages attending and they find it really interesting to learn about the history of where they live."

Classes start on Monday September 14, and run from 10.30am to noon and cost £43.50.
