Legend Steve Walsh says 'let's all be up for the cup'
Footballers took part in one last push to get the people of Leicester to Back the Bid.
The city is hoping to host football games during the 2018 World Cup and public support is essential to bring matches to the Walkers Stadium.
Leicester City legend Steve Walsh was in the market yesterday with young footballers to encourage people to have their say before December's decision.
He said: "Leicester is a big footballing city and people are definitely up for it."
At 1pm yesterday, a banner reading "We're backing the bid" was unfurled from the Corn Exchange bridge.
Shoppers were given a chance to brush up their football skills with a spot of "keepy-uppy" alongside Walshy, a group of young footballers and some of the market traders.
Trader Roger Toon said: "It would be great if we could have World Cup games here."
Votes for Leicester's World Cup bid can be registered at www.backleicestersbid.com.
Supporters of Leicester's bid have just two months to cast their votes, as the successful host cities will be announced on December 14.
Councillor Ross Willmott, city council leader, said: "What we need is for every business, every school and every individual in the whole county to show that they're behind us by voting for Leicester on the England 2018 website."
