FULL TIME: Leicester City 1 Reading 2
Leicester City have made their worst start to a season for 16 years after they were beaten at home by Reading.
Royals captain Matt Mills headed home the winner in the 85th minute and then cleared Steve Howard’s late effort off the line as City slumped to their third league defeat in four games.
Gylfi Sigurdsson had given the visitors the lead in the 22nd minute after Moreno conceded possession on the edge of the City penalty box, and there were boos from some sections of the 19,611 crowd at half time.
But City were much improved in the second half and Lloyd Dyer equalised in the 51st minute with a superb solo goal, and the City winger almost won it for City but was denied by a superb finger-tip save by Royals keeper Adam Federici.
But then Mills out-jumped the City defence to head home Brian Howard’s corner to snatch the points.
Andy King had an effort cleared off the line and a late strike ruled out after the referee penalised Matty Fryatt for a foul on Mills.

“It's ridiculous to expect a new manager who's so different from the old one to hit the ground running and start hoovering up points from day one. I noticed Sousa's English breaking up in the post-match interview - he's obviously feeling the strain big time. The last thing he needs is fans putting him under more pressure.
Sacking him at this stage would virtually guarantee a relegation battle. We wouldn't get anyone better at such short notice and MON wouldn't take the job on either a temporary or permanent basis. There are SO many bad managers out there who we could get saddled with; it doesn't bear thinking about.
For the next few games we need to stop all this complacent tosh about promotion, play-offs, `we're a big club' etc etc. Let Sousa get on with it. Any player who can't hack his new system should be professional enough to ask for help or ask to be put on the transfer list. Let's see where we are after ten or eleven games with a squad that's commited to the club and the manager. If we're still at the bottom, THEN we should start thinking about desperate measures.”

“Sousa states that, ' some players are not happy' well i tell you what, i'm not happy getting up at 5.30 hours every morning then coming home at 18.00hrs every day. BUT i do it because its my job and i get paid a pittance compared to what the unhappy chappies are on. NOT HAPPY unbelievable f*** em off bring some one who appreciates being a PROFESSIONAL FOOTBALLER in. I always thought the word PROFESSIONAL meant something more. What do these people want in life, tell you what i'll swop and i bet there's thousands more who would love to be in their position. NOT HAPPY absolutely amazed name them and lets shame them, what a bunch of UNPROFESSIONAL kids.”

“Is this the "progress" Mandaric really wanted for Leicester City Football Club.
No wins, an indifferent manager and as the 'Merc' quite rightly says our worse start in years.
After two glorious seasons and allowing the most successful manager we have had in years to go this is NOT a step in the right direction. The Clubs at the top of the table now have 10 points, 9 more than us and the gap widening. Unless we're going to start making a magnificent unbeaten run we'll come nowhere!!”

“So City are beaten again and no doubt the Mercury will have watched a totally different game to the one watched by the Blue Army on the terraces at the Walkers Stadium.
My point is as follows: We all know how fickle footballers are and how they love there own publicity and if the Mercury are going to continue bulling them up the team and individuals will never improve.
If a player or the team plays badly then let them know because the voices of 20,000 or so people spending their hard earned cash to watch them are falling on deaf ears.
So how about telling and printing a little bit of straight to the point honesty for once, and who knows a player reading a bad but true report about himself may buck his ideas up.
As the copunties biggest media vehicle its up to you the Leicester Mercury to print the facts and not fiction.”
