Leicester City: Don't put too much pressure on Chris Wood, warns Nigel Pearson
Leicester City boss Nigel Pearson fears too much pressure will be heaped on in-form striker Chris Wood.
The 21-year-old has made a remarkable start to his City career with six goals in just three appearances.

Pearson admitted that £2million Wood's arrival and form had given his side a big boost.
But the City boss said too much emphasis shouldn't be placed on Wood and pointed out that recent victories have been born from strong team performances.

"He is coping with the situation well," said Pearson.
"We are very pleased he has come in and found form straight away.
"But I also think that it is important to recognise the group is doing very well.
"We continue to put some good performances together and Chris is a very important part of the squad.
"But it is wrong to individualise the praise for any player. To perform well, he needs his team-mates to be playing their part too. But we are delighted with Chris' contribution.
"I think we have to be careful not to put too much emphasis on the one player. He has certainly had a major impact for us and taken his chances very well.
"His arrival has certainly had a positive impact on the other players as well.
"In terms of the team and how we function, he certainly gives us another dimension. We have been playing pretty well throughout the season any way, but if a player comes in and is scoring goals it is going to help.
"He is a focused character and he knows what he wants. We are an ambitious club from top to bottom and he is ambitious himself.
"He is a very important part of the squad but he is one player in a very talented group. I hope he can get better but he has got off to a very good start.
"For us to be successful, it is going to take a concerted effort from the whole of the group. We need goals from throughout the team.
"He is on a good run at the moment, but we are playing well as a team."

“meant the problem and I meant I say as I think rather than say what will not upset folk. opulent like to be those boro fans trying to get to and fro in this lot.
On another note thank God Murphy has just beaten Higgins in the snooker. One boring character out.
Hope everyone stays warm and above all safe out there.”

“Sorry Dorset ill just keep it in my thoughts.
Actually although the comment was as spot on as spot on can be at that time Waggy has improved probably because of Wood and Futacs has been coming on steadily. Vardy has gone backwards I'm sorry to say but mainly through missing chances he has lost his nerve and belief.
I shall keep zipped if I can. he problem is I tend to write what I think and believe rather than what will upset folk on here. Forget it and three points tonight please.”

“Rossi, you are right about Vydra. He is very special and destined for big things. The Watford academy boys sometimes come into my work and they rate Vydra very highly.”

“Wood has scored against two poor teams and Burton. He has to show what he can do against the stiffer teams like Cardiff and Boro and the teams who will tighten up under their new managers like Blackburn , Wolves and Blackpool.
The coaching team at WBA obviously don't think he has premier potential. Let's hope they are wrong.”

“I sincerely hope Schlupp dosent go to Man U, i saw the sports page. He might not be playing regularly with us, but he is important part of our future like Liam Moore is too. Im sure Nigel wont let him go, and im sure Jeffrey is more than happy here. Please stay Schlupp!!”

“Anyone see that Jeff Schlupp has gone on a trial at Man Utd (see skysports)... I suppose that's their payoff for having a 'close relationship' with our club. Don't know how I feel about it...”

“Dob
'' Clowns '' ?
are you referring to Vardy, Waghorn and Futacs?
Thought you were campaigning for better behaviour on here?”

“Well, I think Nigel is spot on. Our recent wins have all been team performances. Wood might be scoring the goals but he isn't the only one. And if we let more in at the other end than we score, we would still lose, so don't forget the contribution of our defensive players - statistically we have a very good defence, the second best in the league if we count goals against, and the best if we count clean sheets. I think having Wood in the team can and does have a positive effect on the other players, and we can expect some of them to be more willing to take their scoring chances, instead of looking to someone to pass to when they have a clear chance themselves. I am now very optimistic about this season. If we beat Middlesborough tonight we will be in an automatic promotion spot, and auto promotion must now be our target.”

“Very diplomatic ill just equate it to layman's terms.
"We have been playing well and of course everyone needs to realise this. However now in contrast to the clowns I had to keep playing up front as strikers we now have someone who actually scores goals. Now I want some of the others to help out with one or two"
All well and good Nigel but maybe you didn't notice Knocky and De Laet have already done so ??”
