Leicester City are reportedly taking Newcastle United's Ole Soderberg and Patrick Nzuzi on trial after the duo were told they could leave St James' Park.

The versatile Nzuzi, a defender from the Democratic Republic of Congo, came from the famous Wallsend Boys Club which produced legendary strikerAlan Shearer.

The 19-year-old scored for the Magpies in the Northumberland Senior Cup semi-final against Bedlington Terriers last week, but has been allowed to leave.

Nzuzi has been with United since 2005 when he joined the Academy, and he made his debut for the reserves in 2009.

Swedish goalkeeper Soderberg, 21, was a Dennis Wise signing in 2007, but has failed to make the grade, despite several appearances on the first-team bench.
