Leicester City release Vassell, Howard, Oakley, Weale, Tunchev and Chamberlain
Former England striker Darius Vassell heads a list of six players released by Leicester City.
The 31-year-old is leaving, along with Steve Howard, Matt Oakley, Chris Weale, Aleksandar Tunchev and Wales under-21 international Elliott Chamberlain.
Vassell joined City under former England manager Sven-Goran Eriksson, but injured his cruciate ligament against West Ham last October before the return of Nigel Pearson.
He was out of contract this summer but did return in time to appear in the final game of the season at Leeds United. He made 44 appearances for City and scored six goals.

Howard and Oakley joined City from Derby County in 2008, but they could not prevent City slipping into League One for the first time in the club's history. However, they both played key roles as City bounced back into the Championship by winning the League One title.
Oakley spent most of his City career as captain, but the 34-year-old slipped out of favour under Eriksson and made only two appearances for City this season before heading out on loan to Exeter.
Oakley made 148 appearances for City and scored 10 goals.
Howard made 161 appearances for City, scoring 32 goals, and will be forever remembered by City fans for his winner against Leeds United at Elland Road as City earned promotion back to the Championship. He finished that season as the club's player of the year and the supporters' player of the year.
Goalkeeper Weale joined City from Bristol City in 2009 and was the first-choice under Pearson. He fought off competition from Portuguese keeper Ricardo when Eriksson was in charge to finish the 2010-11 season as City's first choice again.
But the arrival of Kasper Schmeichel last summer saw him lose his first-team place and he went out on loan to Northampton Town, where he picked up a knee injury that cut short his season. Weale made 87 appearances for City.
Bulgarian international defender Tunchev made an immediate impact when he joined City in 2008 but he injured his cruciate knee ligament in a FA Cup third-round tie at Crystal Palace in January 2009 and recurring injuries have blighted the 30-year-old's career ever since.
Tunchev made just 34 appearances for City in four seasons and scored one goal.
Chamberlain came through the youth ranks at City but failed to break into the first team and had spells on loan at Stockport and Telford.
A City statement read: "The club would like to place on record it's thanks to all six players for their hard work and professionalism in City blue."
