Leicester City have signed former Chelsea academy player Conor Clifford until the end of the season.

Clifford has been on trial with Steve Beaglehole's development squad and has featured in several of their recent under-21 league games.

The 21-year-old Irishman was called into the Republic of Ireland squad for a World Cup qualifier against Germany in October last year.

Since joining Chelsea in 2007, Clifford has spent time on loan with Plymouth Argyle, Notts County, Yeovil Town, Portsmouth and Crawley Town.

“If he turns out to be another Muzzy Izzett - great. If he turns out to be another Harry Worsley - not so great.

I'd have thought an experienced midfielder in the Robbie Savage mould is what's required right now - apart from 3 points at Cardiff tonight, that is.”
