Leicester City are hoping to complete the loan signings of Manchester United duo Michael Keane and Jesse Lingard in time for them to make their debuts at Bolton tonight (8.0).

City boss Nigel Pearson has moved to bolster his squad ahead of the trip to the Reebok Stadium, and has again called on his contacts at Old Trafford to snap up defender Keane and midfielder Lingard, both aged 19.

Keane made the breakthrough into the United first team this season after being voted their reserve player of the year last term, and played in the Capital One Cup clash with Chelsea last week.

He represented the Republic of Ireland at under-17, 18 and under-19 level before opting for England, and can play at full-back or centre-back.

Like Keane, Lingard was a member of United's FA Youth Cup-winning side of 2011 and, although he has yet to make his first-team debut, despite being named on the substitutes' bench this season, he has established himself in the reserves where he has been playing either as wide midfielder or in his preferred position just behind the main striker.

City have until three hours before tonight's kick-off to complete the signings, and the duo join a squad which features several former United players, such as Ritchie De Laet, Danny Drinkwater, Matty James and Ben Marshall.

“I expect Yorkshire Fox is right-

Keane and Moore to understudy Morgan and SSL at Centre Back but handy to cover the RB LB positions too. Keane may well come for the rest of the season from what I saw of him on TV for Man Utd

Whitbread has been costly, how do those that go more regularly rate him - at Brum he looked a liability, and at Watford he was a liability.”

“yes sorry yorkfox , i knew he played right back for man utds youth team , but pearson started him at centre half last night , so he must be versatile”

“Keane can play across the back four but my sources (Man Utd friends) tell me he a centreback.

A bit like Moore probably - will be a centeback but needs to grow in to the role.

I assume Pearson is bringing him in for that purpose anyway, or maybe Moore will play there with Del Laet at RB and Keane giving cover across the back 4 on the bench.”

“Hope Keane is fit enough to start, then De Laet can stay on bench. Moore at CB, Keane at RB”

“and here was me thinking that NP didn't have any good contacts at any big clubs, if you believed the doomsayers earlier in the season!”

“We'll have to wait and see how good these kids are, Dorset.

I should imagine that the U21 league that they play in is of a pretty decent standard… A lot of players move straight from this league into the Championship without looking out of place.”

“As a believer in youngsters , I am not sure about this one.
By all means buy them for medium and long term but to have them on loan at a critical time - dont understand- we need experience- ie wellens for example.
But i have never seen or heard of them ,so guess I have to put my trust in NP”

“Keane is a centre back by trade but a touch short so has been playing out at RB.

Lingard plays in a sort of Scholes role but without the horrendous tackling and can move out wide.

Both should be decent captures for City.”
