"The university is proud to be a headline sponsor of the new-look Leicester Mercury Business Award 2013 and to celebrate excellence in corporate, social and ethical activity through the Heart of the Community Award."
Human Resources Award – Mattioli Woods
Chief executive Ian Mattioli said: "The Mattioli Woods Group has a firm, long-standing engagement with the Leicestershire business community in which we operate. As a company, we believe that HR is often overlooked and seen as an administrative function rather than a strategic part of a business.
"Due to our close involvement with the HR sector through our employee benefits division Kudos, we believe that a great people strategy and HR practice is vital in enhancing business performance and makes an important contribution to the local economy."
Innovation Award – Barclays
Greg Allen, relationship director for corporate banking, said: "Barclays are delighted to be sponsoring the Leicester Mercury Business Awards 2013. Leicestershire has always been an important market for Barclays.

Manufacturing Award – Lumbers (joint sponsor)
Managing director Dominic Gomersall said: "As Leicester's oldest independent jeweller, established in 1881, we not only retail some of the world's most refined products, we also manufacture bespoke pieces of jewellery from workshops on the premises.
"As such, we know that precision and attention to detail are paramount in order to create masterpieces, such as priceless jewellery and watches.
"However, whatever the product is, these qualities are just as important."
Manufacturing Award – Aspirational Magazine (joint sponsor)
Advertising manager Sophia Hayes said: "Through Aspirational Magazine and the programme of exclusive events run by the publication, we are right at the heart of a thriving network of businesses.
"In every issue, we provide our 75,000 readership with luxury lifestyle essentials, from services, products, retailers and hotels to food, wine and our renowned social pages. One of the great privileges is coming into contact with the region's manufacturers and producers, people who care passionately about their products and take exquisite care over every aspect of their production."
