Leicester Riders head coach Rob Paternostro is setting his sights on passing two landmarks this weekend.

Riders host Cheshire Jets at Loughborough University on Saturday (7.30) – their first BBL home outing of the season.

Victory would be their 100th competitive success under Paternostro. And it would also mark their 50th home league win since the American first took the reins in 2008.

No Leicester coach has ever come anywhere near either milestone before – the late Peter Shaw is second on the all-time wins list with 62, while Karl Brown's 32 victories is second best in home league wins.

Mark Ellis, chairman of the Jelson Homes DMU-sponsored Riders, said: "Nobody is getting ahead of themselves in terms of milestones.

"But Rob has been a great coach for the club and deserves every accolade he gets.

"He has been an outstanding recruiter of players, but also a great motivator of players, and everyone at the club is absolutely delighted he has been at the helm these last five years.

"We will all be celebrating that win whenever it comes."

The landmarks are the latest in a long line of club records shattered by Paternostro, who last season guided the club to their highest-ever league finish when they were runners-up in the BBL Championship.

In his debut season, the 39-year-old won the BBL coach of the year award and, in 2010, became the fastest Leicester coach to reach 50 wins.
