Leicester Tigers coaches Richard Cockerill and Paul Burke will soon find themselves in direct opposition on the pitch.

Cockerill lines up for England against Burke's Ireland in a Legends match at The Stoop, Twickenham, on Friday, February 26 which will benefit, among others, the Matt Hampson Trust.

Burke, who is kicking coach at Welford Road, said: "I'm looking forward to the match but I'm not sure I will feel that way the next morning. I'm dusting my boots off, I'm out on the pitch every day but I don't get my heart rate up that much.

"I'll not be making too many tackles, although Cockers is always telling me I never did anyway!"

There are star-studded line-up in both camps, with Cockerill joined by former Tigers Martin Corry and Neil Back as well as World Cup winners Jason Robinson and Josh Lewsey, while the Ireland side includes ex-Leicester man Eric Miller and will be captained by Shane Byrne.

The Legends match at 7.45pm will be a curtain-raiser to the RBS 6 Nations clash between England and Ireland the next day. Unfortunately, neither Burke nor Cockerill will be around for the main event as they will be travelling back to the Midlands the following morning to prepare for the Tigers' clash at Northampton.

The teams will play for the Stuart Mangan Trophy, played in memory of the 26-year-old who died last year, 12 months after suffering a spinal injury playing rugby in London.

Hampson, who will be one of the guests at the match, became good friends with Mangan, and his Trust is one of the beneficiaries, along with the Paralysed Rugby Players' Fund, run by Ireland and British Lions legend Keith Wood, and the IRFU Charitable Trust.

"It's a nice build-up to the big one and these are such good causes and help to create more awareness of spinal injuries," said Burke.
