Leicester Tigers' hopes of staying in the LV= Cup are slim after a 23-11 defeat to Northampton at Franklin's Gardens.

Tigers need Saracens to lose at home to Newport-Gwent Dragons to stand any chance.

Paul Diggin gave Saints a flying start with a try in the second minute.

Billy Twelvetrees responded with a penalty but scrum-half Alan Dickens scored Saints' second try midway through the first half to give the home side a 14-3 lead.

A Twelvetrees try cut Tigers' deficit to 14-8 at half-time.

Twelvetrees kicked another penalty in the second half but the Saints added three of their own.

See Monday's Leicester Mercury for all the reaction.
