Leicester University Theatre to celebrate Pinter
Members of a university are to perform work by one of Britain's most renowned playwrights.
The Leicester University Theatre will perform a range of extracts from Harold Pinter's plays at 6pm today as part of the second Literary Leicester Festival.
A Celebration of Harold Pinter is one highlight of this year's festival, bringing together students and academics to pay tribute to the late writer.
The theatre group will perform extracts from Pinter's The Homecoming, The Birthday Party and Mountain Language.
There will also be an interlude and discussion with Martin Stannard, professor of modern English literature in the University's School of English.
Nerissa Tilouche, an undergraduate who is directing the performance, said: "It will look at Pinter's political development and how he changed as a writer as his prestige and political activity grew.
All events, which take place at the university's David Wilson Library on its campus, are free and tickets are available from Rebecca Vickerman on 0116 252 2320. For more information, visit:
