Leicester man on trial for nightclub murder
A man from Leicester is today due to go on trial at the Old Bailey accused of killing a clubber who was attacked at an event where singer Jessie J was performing.
Ashley Charles (25) of Nevanthon Road, Western Park, denies murdering fellow guest Phillip Sherriff, 37.
Mr Sherriff, a telecommunications worker from Preston, Lancashire, died in hospital on April 8.
He had been in hospital for four days after being attacked with a bottle at Pulse nightclub in Southwark, south London.
