Bidders hoping to take over the Phoenix Arts centre building are still waiting to find out who has been successful.

Leicester City Council asked organisations interested in running the Upper Brown Street building to submit bids in the summer.

However, despite saying it would make a decision last week, the three bidders are still waiting.

Andy Wright, former manager of The Charlotte; Darren Nockles, who runs the Musician; and Magic Teapot promoters Ian Baker and Pete Groschl have teamed up with Leicester College to bid for the five-year lease.

Social enterprise Stride, working with musicians who used the original venue, has also put in a bid, as has a third, unknown, applicant.

The cinema and music venue is to be replaced by the new £21m Phoenix Square film and digital media centre, opening in the city's cultural quarter on November 19.
