Leicester vs Blackpool: Marshall's the man for Foxes
Ben Marshall's second-half penalty ended Blackpool's 100% start to the season as the Foxes bounced back from successive npower Championship defeats with a 1-0 win.
Marshall converted nine minutes after the interval following a contentious decision from referee Mike Jones.
Thomas Ince wasted Blackpool's best chances while former Scotland international Barry Ferguson rattled a post.
Foxes winger Lloyd Dyer looked dangerous early on and his second-minute cross was blocked and turned behind by the Blackpool backline with David Nugent and Jamie Vardy lurking.

Minutes later, former Stoke wideman Marshall found space on the right to play in summer-signing Vardy, who forced Matt Gilks into an instinctive save with his legs.
Nigel Pearson's men were threatening from both wings and Marshall's blocked shot rebounded to Danny Drinkwater for the former Manchester United youngster to test Gilks from the edge of the box.
Marshall's curling effort was then repelled by Gilks and the Blackpool number one had to get down quickly to again deny Marshall from a 25-yard free-kick.
Ian Holloway's table-topping Seasiders offered little going forward in the opening stages before Gary Taylor-Fletcher let fly with a long-range effort which swung wide of Kasper Schmeichel's goal.
And, despite being second best for the majority of the opening period, the visitors should have gone in front three minutes before the interval.
Taylor-Fletcher was given space to turn outside the Foxes' box and slip through top-scorer Ince but the 20-year-old wasted the opportunity to grab his fifth goal of the season.
Blackpool captain Ferguson then went even closer in first-half stoppage time as he superbly controlled Taylor-Fletcher's chipped pass to strike a left-footed effort which rebounded off the right-hand post with Schmeichel beaten.
City striker Nugent had the ball in the back of the net four minutes after the restart, only for it to be correctly ruled out for offside.
Moments later home fans voiced their displeasure as a penalty appeal was waved away after Neal Eardley appeared to bring down Dyer.
But on 53 minutes referee Jones was pointing to the spot when Vardy was adjudged to have been brought down by Tiago Gomes and the lively Marshall converted into the top left-hand corner.
On-loan Wigan striker Nouha Dicko was denied a penalty at the other end after going down under Paul Konchesky's challenge while Ince threatened with a snapshot which flew over from an acute angle.
Dyer almost doubled the hosts' lead 19 minutes from time but his powerful close-range drive struck the face of Alex Baptiste on the line.
Ince was presented with a golden chance to grab an equaliser four minutes from the end but he shot wide with the outside of his left foot when well placed to score.

“Thanks for the other site Luxpaul - I use firstrow and have never had a problem - but it's good to know there's another option out there - FF1 never use a site that asks for either membership or worse money - they're a scam. If you go to firstrow about 10 min before the game starts there's a list of all games that are available and you just click and watch.
The only downside is that the feed stops pretty much as soon as the game ends so I missed the post-match discussion and Holloway's "rant".
I'm thinking of investing in the lcfc's Foxplayer - to those who use it is it worth it??
Living in Oz the midweek games are the worst - with Daylight saving looming it means following the game using soccernet on the bus with my Mobile at 6:30am on the way to work - I get very funny looks from other passengers when we score!!
We're looking a lot better now - only 1 pt off the playoffs and 3 points off top spot...Just need to start converting the multiple chances we're creating - seriously we could be scoring 4-5 goals a game the way we're playing... My only worry is Beckford - it just doesn't seem to be working does it? Oh and I love Vardy's workrate - what a terrier!
10 days to sit back, take stock and then push on...”

“Foxfan1:
Dyer's was a penalty though because the defender caught his trailing leg so it all evens out in the end. The first penalty shout could have been given too (have seen them given though would have been a soft pen) as the defender pushed him in the back.
The one that was actually given looks like a penalty at first glance but it was a a soft penalty if you look at the replay. Their penalty shout with Konch wasn't a pen either, he pulled his shirt outside the box and the tangle in the box was a bit of both.”

“Dobbo...just watched the highlights on SkySports & have to disagree with you mate...that was never a penalty in a million years (from a purists perspective)...it was nothing more than a good 50-50 challenge, but Vardy didn't dive either. If you watch it closely he Blackpool lad actually played the ball.....having said that we've had some more than questionable ones given against us (mills at the trees & Hull last season)...
great penalty though by Marshall....how did Dyer miss from there?”

“That would explain it. What do you think of Konchesky right now? From what i have seen he looks to be our weakest link at the back. Or am I seeing it wrong?”

“Anyone know why De Laet was left out? Have to see we looked more solid.
Maybe we have found the right balance with Moore and Schlupp as Fullbacks.
How was SSL generally?”
