The council says it needs to save a total of £79 million in the next four years, and at today's meeting senior Conservative members admitted they needed to think more about where the remaining savings of £30 million would come from.
Some of the agreed savings come from cutting £2.5 million from the children and young people's department, and £3 million from senior management and administrstion costs.

Byron Rhodes, the council’s deputy leader and resources spokesman, said: “It is a tough time for many Leicestershire residents and that’s why we’re including a Council Tax freeze for the third year running.
“This means that the average council taxpayer in Leicestershire would have saved more than £250 over three years, compared to an inflation increase.”

“If they can't do the job efficiently then they should resign and apply for a job they are capable of doing. IF THERE IS ONE..... the most important people are on the front line NOT the generals...........”

“Seems a good idea from a really good, organised, authority.Well done.
Hang on a minute......
Is this the same lot that sacked their leader for...well lets say "fiddling"?
Same lot that cannot get the "fiddled" money back from said leader?
Same lot that do not like Loader wondering what they do with some of our money, and asking questions?
Surely not !”

“Here's an idea how county hall can save some money. Get rid of some of the pen pushers, and turn some of it's lights out. Why you need a sign lit up until 11:40pm and office lights left on day and night during the weekend/holidays is behond me!. This is the same council that has had builders/workmen extending and doing up county hall for a least 3 years. How much has this cost?. Workmen banging around on sat/sun mornings, would not come cheap!!”

“This council have recently given £250,000 to Newbridge High School in Coalville to repair their roof.
Newbridge High School are planning to spend a similar amount towards am artificial football pitch.
Priorities???
The football pitch money would have been better spent on the roof repairs or other essential maintenance.”

“Considering around 500 Leicester council employee are on £50k/year PLUS, it would make sense to cut these huge salaries rather than front line services. But some of those who vote for this are the ones to loose their remuneration, so it won't happen!”
