A former factory worker has kept his culinary dream alive by making it through another round of MasterChef.

Terry Ireland, 23, from Hinckley, impressed the judges in last night's TV semi-final with his roast rabbit loin stuffed with leek.

The successful dish, which was described as "delicious" and "having some of the most complex flavours in the room" by judge and food writer Gregg Wallace, means he will compete against the five remaining finalists on Wednesday's show.

The next round includes preparing a three-course dinner for 20 members of the Women's Institute.

He will be aiming for a spot in the grand-final next Friday.

Speaking on last night's programme on BBC1 Terry said: "I really want to win this competition because there's not going to be many other opportunities for someone with no experience, like me, to get a break in the industry."

The next episode will be broadcast on BBC1 on Wednesday, March 31, at 8pm, where one more contender will leave.

The five remaining chefs will then battle it out on Thursday for the four grand final spots, which will be held on Friday.
