Peter Hogarth, UKTI regional director, said: "This is an exciting time for UK trade with Asia.
"Exports to the continent are at the highest level they have been for a number of years, with the latest export statistics showing we reached £3.1 billion in sales to Asia and Oceania last year, a record high.
"Non-EU exports now account for 57 per cent of exports from the East Midlands with a huge boost in sales to Singapore in the last quarter – up by 46 per cent.
"It has become the East Midlands' third highest export partner.
"This conference will help local firms learn more about taking those next steps into Asian markets and help widen their knowledge on their target markets.
"We need to boost our exports from the East Midlands and so it's vital for companies based across the region to secure more business in high growth markets.
"We are working hard to help local companies achieve their full potential."
