Let's keep Boyle out of our county
The deeply offensive comments about Madeleine McCann by the once-proclaimed funny, but now seriously misguided and headline-hunting Frankie Boyle deserve a very public and sharp response from the people of Leicestershire – a response that should start with the Mercury and hopefully resonate with all speed through the entire newspaper world.
So please, Leicester Mercury, Sir Peter Soulsby, and the people of Leicestershire, join me in saying "Boyle! Stay out of our city, you are not welcome, and never will be!"

Ward, Janet and Terry Herbert (Mercury Mailbox, September 24) I would like to point out to them that there is indeed a political party committed to the restoration of the death penalty, yet this party is routinely condemned as a single issue party only committed to tackling race and immigration.
I will indeed even be surprised if this letter is published.

“I am totally against the banning of comedians whose views dont resonate with our own or who we find offensive, ie the witch hunt against Bernard Manning by Leicester City Council. Let Boyle spout his vile invective. He simply isn't' funny or engaging and the fact he has followers is unsettling to say the least. However, they have a right to their 'entertainment'.”
