The Birch Edition: Let's get behind Nigel and the lads, says Leicester City legend Alan Birchenall
Leicester City legend Alan Birchenall has issued a rallying cry to all City fans to get right behind Nigel Pearson and his side for their final push for promotion.
City's challenge has faltered in recent weeks with just one win in their last nine games.

But the Birch, who spent the day yesterday as special guest editor of the Mercury, has urged the Blue Army to stick with Pearson's men and help get their promotion push back on track.
"It has been at least 10 years since I have done anything like this, but, bearing in mind recent events, I wanted to take this opportunity, as we come into the last eight games of the season, to urge all City fans to really get behind Nigel and the boys for this final push," he said.

"Up until this recent poor run, we were regarded as one of the best sides in the division. Now it is pretty obvious we are a side lacking confidence.
"I have been in situations like this and, as quick as the confidence goes, it can come back. I know a lot of you reading this will be saying it is about time it came back, but it will.
"All City fans know deep down that this is a good City side that Nigel has put together over the last 18 months.
"As we speak, we are in joint sixth place, although it is on goal difference, which is precarious. That is why we need everyone to give the boys their support.
"I know from the past that the fans can and do make a difference. I know from being in the dressing room, playing and being on the side-lines over the last 40 years.
"To quote JFK, in a fashion, 'don't ask what the club can do for you, ask what you can do for your club'.
"City fans have always supported their club but for these last eight games now is the time to crank it up a notch, because there is a great opportunity to achieve what we all want with your backing.
"We can do it if we all stick together."

“Give him a transfusion, quick Steve, 'Neil Warnock's blue and white ARM'. If we're quick we could save it. Can't save his Leeds promotion hopes though.”

“First came Sven, then a hand full of players and finally the fans. He's almost ran out of people to blame.
President Truman had a sign on his desk 'The buck stops here'
Take note Mr Pearson.”

“They won't listen to Birch, they won't listen to Walshy, they (ALL FIVE OF 'EM) have scented blood and they're not gonna let go. NOTHING would please 'em more than if we failed to make the play-offs. All they want is blood- mostly Nigels. The rest of us get behind the team, and while unable to understand recent form, will support our club as we always have. Nigel's built most of a fine team, on a fraction of Sven's budget. Be a shame if he can't finish the job. At least we play with wingers. Sven didn't, Nigel does. And for forwarding a player's career, (Schluppie), Nigel, all you get is abuse.”

“Coventry are playing Portsmouth this weekend. Thank God for our Thais and their far-sighted choice of a Steady-Eddie manager. And why, Alanprichard, DO you suggest anything at all ? Are YOU paid to make these decisions. What experienced expertise do you bring? I think we should be told. I bring no golden solutions, I just support my team. Maybe you should.”

“Foxfan1.
Yes I know that a defeat against Millwall could mean the sack for Pearson. A win against them would keep our season in pretty good shape.
Squirrel.
I didn't post much after Sheff Weds/Derby because I got a 7 day ban because someone on here reported me for Profanity on a post 2 months after I posted it! Fickle folk, arn't they!
Kap.
A bit like me, you post many balanced opinions and have a mixed reaction. I for one enjoy ther banter so keep it going. i believe that our kind know that to keep changing managers is a bit like spending too much time in the bookies "thinking" that the next bet will be the BIG one but in the back of your mind you know that you might as well pick 6 numbers and hope.
On the other hand you want LCFC to be the best team ever and know that managers and players and indeed owners come and go but us poor souls are stuck with our lot that is in their hands. Thats why we get upset when things don't go well. It's just that these days, the priority is the perception is success MUST be immediate. And we all know that that is only possible for a few.
Asfordby.
Your post about the meetings is the most refreshing information this season. I truly believe you and just happen to know who gave the top up idea and the guy (at the club) who put it forward at the meetings. A great idea that would get rid of the fear of getting a season ticket in the future. You will of course get ridiculed for your post as the none believers continue in their quest to see as many different managers down the City until one is eventually successful and then claim that it was all down to them and comfort themselves in their own personal celebrations.
Dorset.
An interesting - and important - point. I was at the Cardiff game and it was great to hear the loyal fans in the stands that night giving Nigel continued vocal support and indeed, seeing Nigel acknowledging that backing. So if the owners/sponsors/investers DO get feedback from this site please make sure that you take that response (at the battlefield) and not these negatives on board when considering Nigels and LCFC's future. Too many on here won't actually be at matches unless we get to Wembley.. Oh yes, then they will be doing everything in their power to get tickets so that they can say "I was there"
8 cup final then hopefully 3 more.. Keep believing and you CAN make a difference.. Let the players and Management know that!”
