The Liberal Democrats have won a council seat unopposed.

A by-election was due to be held for Burbage Parish Council's Sketchley ward seat following the death of Conservative John Howard in August.

However, the Tories did not nominate a candidate by the deadline of Friday.

Lib Dem Steve Deeming was therefore elected.

"Now the Lib Dems have 14 seats and the Conservatives six."
