Licensee hopes we'll all glug from a jug
A licensee is looking to spark a bar room renaissance for dimpled beer glasses after launching a Bring Back Jugs campaign at his pubs.
Sam Hagger, who runs two Leicester pubs – The Rutland and Derby and The Forge – has launched his campaign by buying in hundreds of the traditional dimpled-style jugs with glass handles.

The jugs are available to regulars at both pubs and those choosing to take up the offer will have the opportunity to have their names engraved on their glass.
It is all part of Sam's mission to reconnect the regular to the pub. He wants drinkers to feel part of a pub community and believes the re-introduction of the jugs will go a long way to achieving that aim.

Sam said: "I feel the jugs gave people a sense of ownership and belonging to a pub."
He hopes it will lead to an outbreak of dimpled jugs at pubs across Leicester and Leicestershire – a sight that would be welcomed by the Campaign For Real Ale's Leicester chairman Keith Williams.
He said: "It would be great to see them back in pubs and I hope the campaign helps to achieve that."
