Reports linking Ryan Fisher with a move to Leicester Lions have been quashed.

During an interview with BBC Radio Leicester, manager Glyn Taylor announced that the 30-year-old Californian would be riding for the club in the 2013 season.

However, that has come as news to Lions co-promoter Alan Jones, who said: "There has been a lot of talk that Leicester Speedway has signed Ryan Fisher.

"I can confirm that no written offer has been made from the club, or indeed has a contract been signed between both parties contrary to what has been said in the media.

"First and foremost, we have a duty to talk to our own riders about next season before thinking about changes.

"Should we wish to make any new signings then the approach will be to gain permission from their club in the first instance before opening negotiations."

Fisher has been riding for Plymouth in the Premier League. However, he lives in Tamworth and would obviously prefer a post closer to home.

Fisher also has links with Taylor, somebody he knows well and who tunes his machines for meetings.

The American has already indicated he is uncertain about his future with Plymouth, who finished bottom of the league, and has indicated other clubs have shown an interest.

"I didn't feel 100 per cent last season," Fisher told the Plymouth Herald. "But next year is a new year, wherever I am.

"My ultimate goal is to ride in both the Elite and Premier Leagues – there are a couple of Elite League clubs that sound interested, but nothing has been signed yet."

Leicester would be an ideal move, something that is not lost on him.

"It depends on what Leicester do (regarding staying in the Premier League or moving into the Elite League)," he said.

"I would really like to ride for them as they are near where I live. They've got good riders and a good track and I think they are a top club."
