Barrow Town missed the chance to slot into second place in the East Midlands Counties League when they were beaten 2-0 at Heanor.

The Riversiders must have been confident of victory against a side who went into the game rooted to the bottom of the table.

Barrow had also performed well in midweek when they beat Kirby Muxloe 4-2. However, it did not work out for them as they crashed to a Heanor side who recorded their first win of the season, leaving Barrow in fifth.

A double from Jamie Mason helped Kirby to bounce back from their midweek reverse. They beat Bardon Hill Sports 3-2 with Marc Schulz also on target for the home side.

Holwell Sports climbed into seventh place as they edged out Graham St Prims 4-3 at Welby Road. Scott Mooney struck twice for Sports, Graham Keast and Niall Prenderville also netting.

Ibstock United won the all-Leicestershire affair at the Marston's Stadium. Strikes from Ant Cresswell and Rich Wileman helped them to a 2-1 success over Hinckley Downes.

Neither St Andrews nor Ellistown had anything to show for their trips. The Andrews were pipped 2-1 at Blackwell, while Ellistown lost 3-1 at Borrowash Victoria.
