Loughborough FC, of the North Leicestershire League, defeated District League Beaumont Town in what turned out to be a cracking Saturday Shield semi-final.

The match was deadlocked at 2-2 after extra-time, but the Luffs won a nerve-jangling penalty shoot-out 6-5.

The first 10 penalties found the back of the net but it was sudden-death agony for Beaumont.

Before the drama, Aaron and Kyle Dawes scored for the Luffs while Adam Johnson netted twice for Beaumont.

The Luffs will meet either Allexton & New Parks Reserves or Desford Reserves, who play on Saturday, in the final next month.

Loughborough United booked their place in the Saturday Trophy final with a thrilling 6-5 win after extra-time against Oadby Boys Club 93.

Paul Dickens (3), Craig Nash (2) and Dave Whannell were the match-winners for United.

They will now meet Birstall RBL Reserves, who overcame fellow District League side The New Joiners 6-3 in their semi-final showdown.

The final of the Intermediate Cup between Melton Mowbray and Friar Lane & Epworth is scheduled for March 26, again at Holmes Park.
