Two Loughborough Independent Schools placed in Sunday Times top 200

This weekend, The Sunday Times published a list of the top 200 state and independent schools in the UK – and the top 400 if you are willing to subscribe to the Times online.

Six schools in Leicestershire and Rutland were placed in the table: two Loughborough schools claimed 73rd and 123rd place, Oakham and Uppingham schools were placed 187th and 110th and Leicester High and Leicester Grammar came in at 106th and 108th position. Two schools just outside the region; Stamford High School and Oundle were placed 157th and 66th respectively.

No Leicestershire state schools were placed in the comparative table, although King's, Peterborough came in at 170th and Brooke Weston, Corby 185th.

There are approximately 3,446 state run secondary schools and 2,600 independent schools in the UK, so to come in the top 200 is quite an achievement.

Results are based on 2012 examinations results with A*-B grades at A level double weighted and International Baccalaureate results converted to A-level grades.
