MEP wants answers over horse meat
An East Midlands MEP has written to the executive body of the European Union about the scandal over horse meat in processed beef products.
Emma McClarkin has sent a written question to the European Commission asking what actions it will be taking to ensure traceability information is available in meat production.
Miss McClarkin said: "The recent horse meat scandal has outraged millions of consumers – not just in the UK, but also across Europe. It is vitally important that elected representatives take whatever action is needed to ensure food producers cannot do something similar in future.
"I am doing everything I can on behalf of the people of the East Midlands to raise this up the political agenda in Europe, and this written question is part of that.

“We could ban imports of meat from the Europe but the EU won't let us. Strange though, the French managed to do it during the BSE scare. Maybe its us us that plays by the rules..... again!”
