No other MPs had signed in support of the motion by yesterday afternoon.
Mr Vaz revealed that he and his wife, Maria, had once met Michael Jackson, in London.
He said news of the death of the singer, who sold an estimated 750 million records worldwide, was a shock to everybody.
He said: "Michael was the most important and successful musician of his generation. His music had a profound impact on millions of his fans and helped to bring together people from across the world. He will be sorely missed."

That's if you can get hold of him, he seems to be too busy showing Mr Brown the pointless new addition to our city in the form of the Ghandi statue!! My oh my!!”
