MP and former soldier David Tredinnick has welcomed the Government's announcement that serviceman who took part in two key Second World War campaigns are to be recognised.

The Government is to offer Arctic Star medals to veterans who served on convoys supplying the Soviet Union and clasps to members of Bomber Command.

Families of those who have died will also be able to apply for the awards.

Production of the medal and clasp will start this week and living veterans and widows will be the first in line to receive the awards, from as early as next month.

“Nice to see our warriors finally getting the respect well overdue.Well done David.
I do not expect the two mayors of Leicester City will comment.
One banned the parade through the City, then changed his mind.
The other went shopping rather than respect on Rememberance Day.”
