A man found dead in a car near a village in Rutland has been named.

Christopher Toms, 62, of Stamford, was discovered by a member of the public in a field off Whissendine Road, Ashwell, at about 3.50pm on Monday.

A police spokesman said: "The body of a man was discovered inside the vehicle. The death is not being treated as suspicious and a file is being prepared for the coroner."

An inquest on Mr Toms was opened and adjourned on Wednesday.
