A 37-year-old man was arrested and has since been charged with grievous bodily harm. He appeared at Leicester Magistrates’ Court on Friday (September 28) and released on bail to appear at court at a later date.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the assault. Detective Sergeant Chris Baker said: “Abbey Street is busy at that time of day and the incident happened next to a bus stop. I am confident there would have been a number of people in the area at that time who may have seen this incident and be able to help us with our investigation.
