Man killed in crash on B6047 in Leicestershire

A man was killed and another seriously injured in a collision involving a car and a van.

The man in the car was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash on the B6047 Market Harborough to Melton road.

The driver of the van was taken to hospital with serious, but not life-threatening, injuries.

The accident happened at 8.20am yesterday.

Police sealed off the road through the village of Church Langton for several hours.

Accident investigators examined the site for clues to what happened.

Harborough police commander Inspector Neal Holland said: "Emergency services were sent to the scene of the collision at 8.20am.

"It occurred on bends north of Church Langton.

"It involved two vehicles and the road was closed and diversions set up.''

A police spokeswoman added: "A man in the car was pronounced dead at the scene.

"The man in the van was taken to hospital."

She added: "We are appealing for witnesses to the incident to contact us.

"We would also like to hear from anyone who had seen the vehicles prior to the collision to contact us."
