Man threw hot fat at girlfriend
A man who threw a pan of hot chip fat over his girlfriend during a row has been jailed for two years.
Owen Redshaw was sent to prison for the assault – which caused first and second degree burns to the face and shoulder of the victim.
Prosecutor John Hallissey told Leicester Crown Court that Redshaw and the woman, who had been going out for 14 months, went out with friends on June 22.
When they got home to the victim's flat in Leicester, Redshaw put the chip pan on so they could have something to eat. Mr Hallissey said Redshaw and his girlfriend, both in the kitchen, began to argue.

He said: "The girlfriend pushed the defendant back into one of the cupboards and the defendant pushed her back. The defendant picked up the chip pan and threw it and its contents across the kitchen in the direction of his girlfriend."
He said that the girlfriend did not immediately know what had happened but then felt the burning oil on her skin.
He said: "She took her top off and rinsed the hot oil from her face and shoulder.
"She had burns to the side of her face and to her shoulder."
Mr Hallissey said the burning oil had caused blistering of the skin, but it was not thought that any permanent scarring would result from the attack.
He said Redshaw had 13 previous convictions including a public order offence, threatening behaviour and assaulting a police officer.
Redshaw (39), of The Fairway, off Saffron Lane, Leicester, pleaded guilty to causing grievous bodily harm to his girlfriend on June 23.
Linda Jerman, defending, said her client, who had a long-standing heroin problem, felt physically sick when he realised what he had done.
She said: "It was an argument. The defendant accepts he picked up the nearest thing and threw it. It was an instant thing. He realises the harm he has caused his girlfriend.
Miss Jerman said Redshaw's girlfriend has been writing to him in prison and the pair appeared to have resumed their relationship.
Judge Simon Hammond held up a photograph of the victim's injuries to Redshaw.
He said: "This is what you get for chucking hot fat about. What you did was awful."
Jailing Redshaw for two years, the judge said: "This must never happen again."
