Leicester City have extended the loan spells of Manchester United duo Jesse Lingard and Michael Keane.

Both players will now be available for selection until January 2, strengthening City boss Nigel Pearson's options during the jam-packed festive period.

Lingard, 19, has made four appearances since arriving at the King Power Stadium last month, going on as a substitute in City's games against Bolton, Nottingham Forest, Leeds and Sheffield Wednesday.

Keane, by contrast, has featured just once.

The centre-back picked up a hamstring injury on his City debut in the 0-0 draw with Bolton, which saw him make a premature return to Old Trafford.

However, the 19-year-old is recovering well and will re-join the City squad when he reaches full fitness.

City, who are currently third in the Championship, may need as many fresh hands as possible if they are to keep their momentum going throughout their hectic festive schedule.

They have six games in just 25 days, culminating in their fixture on New Year's Day when they welcome Huddersfield to the King Power Stadium.

The run includes home games against Barnsley and top-of-the-table Cardiff, along with tough away trips to Millwall, Hull and Burnley.

“thanks phill for enlightening me. Was purely going on ability of which he has more in his little toe than most do. You are probably in essence right but there is a lot of conjecture. it may well be if your face doesn't fit with Pearson you don't get a sniff regardless of your skills. he may be right but I think Danns is class.”

“Dob the problem with Danns and other so called high calibre players that i have now been shipped out is that it is all about them and not about the team. We've all played with guys in the past that were great footballers but were greedy so and so's that thought the team revolved around them and when they don't buy into the team ethic they becoming festering sores as I think as proven at Leicester. Some of the antics of Beckford were just plain embarrassing. I don't always agree with Pearson's dogmatic and somewhat 'my way or the highway' approach but if he gets us promoted I couldn't care a fig.”

“Neil Danns is twice the player both in presence and playing skills as either of these two. I don't fully know the situation and other people on here only speculate. What i do know is who I'd rather see out on the field so play representing Leicester CIty Football Club.”

“Jesse Lingard played for the united development team on Monday, Assist for Macheda's goal then was sent off for handling on the line, interesting. I think Pearson is running the eye over both players and may make a cheeky bid in the summer”
