Martial arts: Ultimate Fighter Andre Winner to bide his time
Leicester's Andre Winner says he is in no rush to compete for a world title despite a fantastic start to his professional Ultimate Fighting Championship career.
The 20-year-old from Beaumont Leys stopped Rolando Delgado in the first round in front of 17,000 at the MEN in Manchester.
The fight was shown worldwide on pay-per-view and on ESPN in the UK, and Winner certainly made the brutal world of UFC, which sees fighters compete in a mixture of boxing, wrestling and martial arts inside a cage, take notice.
Winner sprung to prominence in season nine of American TV show The Ultimate Fighter, in which he reached the final, and he now has his sights set on a successful professional career.
However, Winner, who trains in martial arts at Leicester Shootfighters, knows he has just taken his first step on a long road.
"I want to establish myself as a professional first but I do want to go for a world title eventually," said Winner. "I know I have a lot to learn still so I am in no rush."
