Organisers of a children's arts festival say any money businesses donate to help them can now be doubled thanks to new match-funding from the Government.

The Spark Children's Arts Festival said businesses that support its Shine For The Spark fund-raising appeal will see donations matched pound for pound.

The Leicester festival has been promised up to £25,000 for its education programme which helps thousands of children a year. But it must equal this figure before the 2013 festival to secure the cash.

Director Adel Al-Salloum said: "This new matched funding award is a tremendous opportunity which we cannot afford to lose.
