Match stats: Big Ben strikes a winning note for Leicester City
Former Sheffield Wednesday captain Nigel Pearson made two changes to his Leicester City side after last week's 6-0 victory against Ipswich.
David Nugent missed out with a neck injury so that gave an opportunity for Jamie Vardy to start against the club he supported as a boy, and who released him as a teenager for being too small.
The other change was not enforced as Ben Marshall, who had a successful loan spell with the Owls last season, replaced Anthony Knockaert on the right flank.
6 min: Danny Drinkwater disposes Rhys McCabe on the edge of the Wednesday penalty area but drags his shot wide. It has been a scruffy start to the game and that scuffed effort sums up the opening six minutes.

9 min: McCabe plays in Jay Bothroyd on the edge of the City box and his shot is deflected wide. City break from the corner and Marshall tests Owls keeper Chris Kirkland with a low strike.
19 min: Bothroyd tries an ambitious effort from long range which goes well wide and there are jeers from the Wednesday fans. Bothroyd does not seem the most popular with the home crowd.
21 min: Martyn Waghorn is looking bright and plays in Andy King on the edge of the box, but he tries to tee up Lloyd Dyer instead of shooting and Wednesday snuff out the danger. City are getting into some promising positions but are not pulling the trigger.
27 min: King gets on the end of a Waghorn free-kick and his flicked header drifts just past the far post.
28 min: Waghorn's corner causes havoc in the Wednesday box and Wes Morgan almost hooks the ball home, but he slips at the crucial moment.
31 min: Kirkland collides with Anthony Gardner, his own defender, on the edge of the area and the ball runs free with an unguarded net but City are unable to capitalise.
39 min: Waghorn's set-piece delivery has been superb and his free-kick picks out King with a free header 10 yards out, but he heads well wide.
41 min: GOAL 0-1 Drinkwater plays a great one-two with Marshall on the corner of the Wednesday box and places a right-footed strike low into the bottom corner, in off the far post.
45+1 min: Zak Whitbread booked for foul on Mamady Sidibe.
45+2 min: Kasper Schmeichel comes a long way to deal with a high ball and misses it completely but King is behind him to hook the ball away.

48 min: City cut the Wednesday defence open again and Vardy tees up Marshall but his shot is deflected wide.
58 min: Great corner from Waghorn, whipped in, and Marshall meets it at pace but heads over the bar. It was a free header.
60 min: Great fingertip save from Kirkland to deny Waghorn, whose shot from the corner of the box was heading for the top corner.
64 min: Waghorn has another go from long range but this time his shot is safely gathered by Kirkland.
69 min: Wednesday only really look a threat from set-pieces and Martin Taylor heads over from a long-range free-kick.
76 min: GOAL 0-2 Marshall picks up the ball on the corner of the Wednesday box. He shuffles the ball on to his left foot and bends a beauty past Kirkland and inside the far post. His muted celebrations show maturity.
80 min: Waghorn strikes the bar after City catch Wednesday out at the back. City had a three-on-one advantage and Waghorn took the shot but could not score.
90+4 min: Knockaert does brilliantly to get to the by-line and picks out Jesse Lingard with virtually an open goal but he mis-kicks.
