Match stats: Another tale of missed chances for Leicester City
Leicester City were unable to build on their victory over Blackpool as they fell to a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Wolves.
Leicester made one change, with Ritchie De Laet, who injured himself in the warm-up before the 1-0 win against Blackpool, replacing Sean St Ledger, who dropped to the bench.
Former City player Richard Stearman started at right-back for Wolves.
Here is how the game unfolded minute-by-minute.

5 mins: Paul Konchesky makes a late challenge on striker Kevin Doyle and concedes a free-kick about 25-yards out. The City defender is fortunate not to pick up an early booking.
10 mins: David Nugent plays it in for Andy King, who strikes for goal from the corner of the six-yard box but it is deflected over.
12 mins: Ben Marshall concedes a free-kick 25 yards out when he is adjudged to have fouled Tongo Doumbia, much to the displeasure of the travelling City faithful.
13 mins: GOAL (1-0) From the resulting free-kick, Sylvan Ebanks-Blake beats Konchesky to the ball and fires in a powerful header from close-range into the top corner.
20 mins: Liam Moore gives the ball straight to Doyle on the corner of the penalty area. The striker cuts inside and attempts to curl it into the top corner and only the sprawling right hand of Kasper Schmeichel stops Wolves making it 2-0.
21 mins: GOAL (2-0) Leicester again fail to deal with a set-piece as Bakary Sako's corner falls to a totally-unmarked Stearman, who takes no time in smashing it into the back of the net.
28 Mins: In trademark Marshall fashion, the England Under-21 winger cuts inside from the right on to his left foot and curls one towards to top corner. Ex-City loanee Carl Ikeme makes a fine one-handed save to tip the ball over. Leicester's best chance of the half so far.
30 MINS: King is replaced by Matty James.
35 mins: James in the action straight away as he plays the ball through to Marshall who fires low to Ikeme's right. The keeper parries the shot but gathers before the oncoming Jamie Vardy can get there.
42 mins: Doyle through on goal, fires at Schmeichel, who can only parry it back into his path. Doyle unleashes a thunderous strike but Wes Morgan throws himself in front of the striker to make a crucial last-ditch block.
43 mins: Lloyd Dyer plays through David Nugent, who again manages to find his way in behind the Wolves back four, but another chance goes begging as the City striker fires high and wide.
H-t: WOLVES 2 CITY 0
46 mins: Lloyd Dyer makes way for Anthony Knockaert.
48 mins: City make a much brighter start to the second half. Vardy gets the smallest of flick-ons to a cross from Marshall. It catches Ikeme off guard and the goalkeeper saves it with his shins.
53 mins: Konchesky, who has been riding his luck all afternoon, makes one foul to many and is booked.
56 mins: De Laet is caught horribly out of position and Sako fires on goal, forcing a save from Schmeichel.
58 mins: Nugent gives away a free-kick, kicks the ball away in disgust and is booked.
64 mins: De Laet puts a great cross in from the right and finds Nugent in the centre. However, the striker is unable to make a decent connection and another opportunity for City goes begging.
69 mins: GOAL (2-1) Konchesky picks the ball up 30 yards out and unleashes a left-footed thunderbolt straight into the top corner.
77 mins: A testing cross from the right from De Laet finds the head of Nugent, who puts his attempt marginally wide.
80 mins: Frenchman Knockaert weaves his way through the Wolves defence and plays in Martyn Waghorn one-on-one who smashes his shot flush against the post. Really should be 2-2.
84 mins: A mistake from Moore gives Doyle a great chance straight in front of goal but he only manages to hit it straight at Schmeichel.
89 mins: Doyle walks through the Leicester defence and puts a ball across the Leicester goal. Moore, in an attempt to pass it back to Schmeichel, almost puts it in his own net.
F-t: WOLVES 2 CITY 1

“Chappy, I agree with what you say about Holloway, but you are wrong in saying that the fans did not expect because we had money, there were many post on here with comments such as "watch us go, prem here we come" and later "with all our money we should have walk this league" or words to that effect, when and after the Thai's took over.
There is a glaring omission from you paragraph regarding NP taking us up and having a go at the play off's, in that NP was moved on by Mandric and continuity was broken, yet again, and it has been broken again and again with PS, SGE and now NP again, see the recurring theme here, and I have no doubt it will be broken again if NP does not deliver the holy grail.
Playing well and losing is still losing, true but we are playing better, that's not good enough for some, they probably fall into the category above and want instant success, from what I have seen we deserve a least a couple more points on the board and we will get them I'm sure.
C'mon you blues”

“So Nigella..will 13 be enough for you?
There's a brilliantly funny TV ad on over here in the States at the minute...a young kid sitting at the table not eating his vegetables...his mum says "you're not getting down till you've eaten them"... next thing you see is the kid still there with long grey hair & a beard....
reminds me of being a LCFC fan at the minute...us all sitting there with long grey hair & beards waiting for Pearson to get his act together......gotta love it :)”

“Jeez!
"Rome WAS built in a day" claim pitchfork-wielding City mob.
We all want the same thing, Burton, Chappy.
What worries me is that an increasing proportion of the fans seem to think that it's an easy thing to achieve, and that all that is required is a change of manager – when in fact, all the signs point to the opposite. Teams that change their manager mid-season do not generally do very well.
OK we have "resources". But so do half of the teams in this League. Our fans seem to have a lack of respect for the opposition we're facing – expecting us to be able to turn over Charlton, Blackburn and Wolves just because we have money.
Blackburn are much richer than us. They should be beating us when we go there.
Wolves have had Jack Haywood's cash to rely on for years now, and they have gone about spending a bit more of it this Summer. Last year Bakery Sako and Doumbia were both playing in France for Rennes – who finished 6th in La Ligue– whilst that diving winger Peszko played most of last season for Cologne in the Bundasliga.
Roger Johnson has spent most of his career in the Premiership. We know how good Stearman is too. Doyle is an international forward who cost £6m and Ebanks-Blake has scored loads of goals at this level.
So, back to my original question which no-one has satisfactorily been able to answer: Why is it such a disaster to lose, AWAY, by a single goal, to a team like Wolves?? Or Blackburn?
Anyway, looking forward. Burnley and Hull are huge games. Two wins there could turn the season on its head. Two defeats and not even I would be able to find the positives with Pearson…
It is said that a manager lives and dies by results. This is true. My interpretation though was that "results" means more than FIVE games.”

“fox u like reference my alps statement,
I have got a grip,
Holloway wasn't a bad manager - he didn't even get a chance to build from the bottom up - he was already halfway through a losing season with no resources. If he'd had a closed season to offload the dead wood and bring in players he wanted - who is to say he wouldn't have done the same as pearson and took us straight back up? And DJ may have proved to be his key player.
When you say you think we expect because we've got money, that is not correct, I expect a decent manager to make the best of what he's got, survey the situation and where he can make improvements, get them firing on all cylinders and THEN get rid of the dead wood.
I expect better, because after NP took us up, we had a good go at the Playoffs the year after, and we've signed players who should be performing better. Instead we are battling for a point, these players, and the new ones he's added haven't exactly given us faith.
Playing well and losing - is still losing.
My analogy of the alps with one engine on fire - means we still have a chance to salvage it - but we don't have the parachute (pumping cash in to sign another player, and we've ditched the "dead wood" who may have been useful for the time being).
I say like you we give him a bit longer, but I am not the Thais - and ultimately it's up to them.
But from a commercial perspective - a team that plays well and loses - creates a spectacle and entertains the opposition fans and sells their seats, but it doesn't really do anything for ours.”

“FoxUlike
No I absolutely don't want that AGAIN. I want a capable manager that can have confidence in the fact that we have a left back and right back that can actually defend.
Not too much to ask I would have thought with a football club with the resources we have at our disposal. You say that NP has some expertise - well certainly he hasn't shown that expertise in marshalling a decent defence.
De Laet & Konchesky have both been very poor. That's a fact. Many of our competitors in the Division have signed better quality players - that too is a fact.
Is out team stronger than last season - going forward possibly, defending definitely not.
How long should we wait then - a month, 6 months, 2 years? What happens if we wait and we get just more of the same?
Pearson said in a recent interview that it is 'a results business'. I whole-heartedly agree with that statement.”

“A tale of missed chances all too familiar!!!!
Get some bite in midfield, drop the defenders who cant defend and the strikers who cant hit a barn door from six yards
NP not got long to sort this out”

“We have changed the manager numerous times. Changed the paying staff all over the park. So what is going wrong? The only thing that hasn't changed is the fans. Get rid of them and things might improve.”
