A civic service organised by a mayor takes place tonight.

The Mayor of Melton's event, at St Mary's Church in the town, will include a performance by cellist Alison Lawrence.

The service begins at 7pm and will be followed by a reception in the Samworth Centre.

A retiring collection will be divided between St Mary's Church, and the Mayor's charities, the Diabetic Association and the Melton Group of Riding for the Disabled.

Everyone is welcome.
