Diners in Leicester can take advantage of cut-price meals when the city’s popular Big Eat event returns tonight.

A total of 39 bars, cafes and restaurants will offer discount menus and two-for-one deals as part of the Big Eat 2, which aims to encourage evening visitors into the city centre.

It follows the success of the first Big Eat last October, when about 40 venues took part, encouraging hundreds of people to dine out.

And this time it coincides with the city’s comedy festival.

The event has been organised by Leicester City Council to coincide with Dave’s Leicester Comedy Festival, which runs from February 3 to 19 and attracts 70,000 visitors to the city.

Some city centre car parks will be free to use on February 7, including: Newarke Street car park between 6pm to 1am, and the Haymarket Centre, The Lanes and Dover Street car parks from 6pm to midnight.
