Matt Sibson, the Mercury's business development manager, said: "It's been a fantastic response to this brilliant reader offer.
"It's the first time we've done something like this with Curve and it's obviously been a tremendous success and something our readers have really responded to."
The discounted tickets are for the showing on Thursday, September 27.
The musical is based on the story of JM Barrie, who created Peter Pan.
The story began as an Oscar-winning film starring Johnny Depp, Kate Winslet, Julie Christie and Dustin Hoffman.
The stage show has been put together by Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein, who chose Curve to host the world premiere.
Fiona Allen, chief executive of Curve, said: "We are extremely proud to be hosting the world premiere of Finding Neverland.
"It's a fantastic coup for Curve and for Leicester to have this new musical staged here first.
"We are delighted to be working with the Leicester Mercury and we look forward to welcoming their readers to the theatre for this special event."
The show, directed and choreographed by Olivier Award-winner Rob Ashford, opens on Saturday and the run continues until October 13.
The cast are now in rehearsals.
Julian Ovenden, who is playing JM Barrie in the production, said: "Rehearsals are going really well.
"The show is going to be spectacular.
"Rob Ashford, the director, is bringing out the best of all of us and excitement is mounting day by day – we can't wait for opening night this Saturday to play in front of a live audience."
The story begins the day after JM Barrie's new play, The Wedding Guest, has flopped.
Then he meets a widow with four sons and is inspired by the boys to create the world of Peter Pan.

“The show was slow, fragmented, poorly written and at times bordering in insulting to the Peter Pan story, the Finding Neverland story and the audience. With no direction, conflicting scenes and no subtlety this is truly the worst musical i have ever seen written for idiots by a total Imbecile!”
