Migration from EU will continue
Eric Goodyear ("Tory commitment to EU welcomed", Mailbox, July 14) is absolutely right.
The Tories are fully in favour of Turkey becoming an EU member.
That means another 70 million people will have the absolute right to enter the UK at will.
You might ask how that sits with the recent Tory announcement that they will cut back migration into the UK. The answer is that this new restriction will only apply to non-EU immigrants – Australians, Indians, New Zealanders and many others who start off with English as their mother tongue.
Migration from EU members – no problem, especially when their children add yet more languages to the classroom.
Collis Gretton also supports Eric Goodyear in this expansion of the UK population but how they intend to see that all these new people will be housed and cared for is another matter.
This question might also be directed to the new Con-Dem Government which has just announced a cutback in spending on just the services these newcomers will need. All good practice for when Georgia, the Ukraine and the rest join the EU.

“Derek - well done - at least I know that you will be honest about your views on the EU, even if I disagree with you.”

“The way this dreadful Con government is acting, there will soon be a great exodus of British people to other countries in the EU, not just Spain as now.”

“There is also an EU Medditerranean Policy to be considered. This may have even wider implications as to who else can have travel and migration rights. As usual the UK's EU proponents tend not to discuss these things in the open. Preferring to acheive their aims by stealth.”
