A mobile catering company fed and watered more than a million people at an Olympics event this summer.

D&J Mobile Catering, of Arnesby, had more than 40 outlets at London's Hyde Park for 18 days as part of the BT London Live events.

Around 1.6 million people attended to watch the coverage of London 2012 on large screen and musicians such as Ocean Colour Scene, Will Young and Feeder.

The company said over the course of the 18 days, guests consumed about 300,000 burgers, 200,000 pizzas and 500,000 hot dogs and drank 500,000 bottles of water and 250,000 bottles of soft drinks.

Managing director John Greaves said: "We saw this as an opportunity to demonstrate our ability to provide an excellent standard of service and an outstanding quality of produce for an audience that has never been seen in the UK before.

"We feel that we stepped up to the mark and our huge efforts are reflected in the positive feedback received since the event."

Earlier this summer, the company was involved in the first cashless food and drink festival in England. Visitors to Wireless music festival, which also took part in Hyde Park, were able to use a Barclaycard wristband to pay for their refreshments.

The company supplies food and catering units for concerts, football matches, race days and festivals such as Download at Donington Park, Creamfields and Hard Rock Calling.
