Motor sport: Dream weekend for rookie Rob at Knockhill
Robert Foster-Jones was the star performer for Bardon-based CRS at Knockhill on Sunday.
The 19-year-old, in his rookie season of car racing after graduating from karting, took his first podium and then followed up with his maiden win in spectacular fashion in rounds 15 and 16 respectively.
Team-mate Harry Tincknell remains fifth in the championship after a solid fourth place followed by a seventh, while Mick Lyons continues to improve by clocking a 10th and 12th.
The day, however, belonged to Foster-Jones, who has clearly learned plenty in such a short time.
He started race two from pole and soon began to build up a gap over second-placed man Tama's Pa'l Kiss, the championship leader.
There was drama on lap 10 when Foster-Jones got a wheel in the dirt at Clark Curve, which gave Pa'l Kiss the opportunity to attack.
But the CRS driver was having none of it, fighting back to outbrake the Hungarian and re-take the lead.
"I'm absolutely over the moon," said Foster-Jones. "This is my first year in cars so to take a second, a win and a pole is a dream weekend. I can't thank the team enough, they've all done a top job to get me here and hopefully it won't be the last time this season.
"We were one of the only teams to come here in pre-season testing and you can see it has paid off.
"When I was out in the lead it was a case of managing the equipment, not making any mistakes and bringing it home in first place.
"Tama's is a great driver and has been leading the championship for a long time.
"He put me under a lot of pressure but I just kept my cool, didn't look in the mirrors too much and just drove to the flag."
